Tune in for this unusual presentation on autism by someone with autism. Animal Science professor Temple Grandin, who designs livestock handling facilities, discusses the workings of the mind of a visual thinker like herself. She discusses how she uses concrete visual metaphors — including a nonverbal video library of particular people, places and associations — to make sense of the world around her. Series: "M.I.N.D. Institute Lecture Series on Neurodevelopmental Disorders" [6/2007] [Health and Medicine] [Professional Medical Education] [Show ID: 12871]

I am sorry but I will have to disagree with "inregionecaecorum", as a mother of a child with PDD I have to say.......Temple is spectacular! I appreciate an articulate, intelligent person on the spectrum helping me understand what is going on in my childs head. Very beneficial!

What about deaf and blind autists? How do they think? In terms of touch and texture, I suppose.

My son, not an autistic at all, drew in perspective at the age of 4.
